How do we perceive what we see in front of our eyes? Is it simply our sensory organs sending our brain messages telling us what our reality really is? But how is it that different people can comprehend and ‘see’ (in all aspects of the meaning of the word) things in complex different ways? The fact is, depending on the way we were genetically constructed and the external influences we experience throughout our lives, a uniquely structured world (be it vision or mind) unravels before each and every one of us. Here is a theory that explains the construction of an invisible intricate web of human perception.
When we were first created, we possess innumerable clear particles that have yet to be influenced by the outside world. They are stimulated by the genetic make-up passed down from your parents. Once being born, millions of exterior elements start affecting our growth process. The sensory organs act as bridges for these intense stimulations to come in contact with the inner particles and chemical reactions take place. The faintest emotion or word can trigger complex changes in the particles and a web begins to form. Due to great variations in genetic and eternal influences, everyone develops their own unique web of perception that works like a filter.
The personal filter is a metaphoric theory that explains how we perceive things so differently as individuals. It’s almost as if our heads work like complicated system cameras and the filter serves the purpose of a lens. It functions to absorb all external stimulations, filtering these external particles where its then fuses among preexisting particles.
lyrics
Filtered
I am drawing… ‘cause I have to, but I don’t understand you, I.. I don’t understand you.
I know it but it hasn't passed me through
If yours, if mine, never reached
Still I'm a drop over here. They are drinking me from every side
(I know it)
What was it that you gave me to filter?
Do you still have it in your hands?
Or did you take away your favour while I wasn't there?
These fruits are shared, you took them before the branch let them fall
Weaved and formed
Will my love be closed forever in this hibernation?
You are making a wall of my shell
Shell that shelters me
(With your thread)
I express it only with these lean words…. and frozen hands
